Del was free wheeling down the Albany Hill on a training run recently when he had an unusual sensation in his helmet. He managed to get to the bottom of the hill before pulling off to the side of the road and investigating. He took off his helmet and out shot a very agitated bee! It must have become trapped in one of the holes in the helmet and had been unable to free itself.
Flying insects can be a nuisance when you're cycling - especially when you're sailing downhill and grinning with exhilaration. Glasses protect the eyes but without a mouthguard it's hard to avoid a mouthful of blowfly from time to time!
