Yes! Cyclone Del is on its way! He pedalled another 81kms yesterday from Kerikeri to Whangarei. He had quite a few challenging hills to negotiate and finished a couple by walking the bike. The traffic was decidedly heavier with an abundance of logging trucks roaring past in both directions.
The weather is hot and humid - he's drinking litres of water and sweating it all out again!
After he'd made himself at home in a holiday park just off the highway, he discovered that the supermarket was kms away and he had to take off again to buy his food.
Today he'll continue down SH1, branching off at Waipu to go via Langs Beach and Mangawhai to avoid the Brynderwyns.
4.00pm Latest update - Del settled on a shorter trip today and made camp at Mangawhai Heads. Time to rest the weary bones! Note that the trailer gets the place normally reserved for me!!
