Del made it to Kaikoura by late afternoon yesterday and set up camp in the local holiday park.
He sent this photo of himself asleep in his tent. I'm suspicious! I thought that this was a solo ride!
Today he set off early to tackle the next stretch to Cheviot - or beyond? He's determined to get to Christchurch by Saturday evening.
He's finding the mornings quite chilly already and now starts the ride dressed in thermals and his fluorescent jacket as well as his cycle shirt. By mid morning the extra layers have been peeled off.
By this evening he'd covered 104kms and had stopped for the night at Greta Valley, about 30kms south of Cheviot. He's definitely looking at getting to Christchurch tomorrow!
